********************* * * * CHANGED since 2.2 * * * ********************* Added [Space] as hotkey for Timer on/off in Slide Show View Fixed: in photo mosaic dlg Clear chopped up and Clear reuse were swapped Removed scan for duplicate files in file open (jpeg fix) Fixed bug that called Retriever in a loop (short path fix) Allowed for WMFs were size!=header.size ***RELEASED AS patch ret22p3 Made database pane work with active slide show image If you use the database together with the slide show view, the database will correspond to the current image, and you can categorize it //disabled collapsing of unchecked items in database pane May or may not be a good idea. Changed that back again. Added CRC32 option for labels You can show the CRC32 checksum for a file in the thumbnail label removed 2000 pixel limit in size picker (new limit: 8000) You can now resize an image to up to 8000x8000 pixels, and make images or html pages that wide... if your resources allow Added maintenance features for database Use Options->Database->Clean to remove all files from the database that are not currently accessible on disk (because they are deleted but also moved or renamed) Use Options->Database->Locate files instead to let the database check for files that it knows but where renamed or moved to another folder Made it remember the last chosen size (contact sheet, save-as-image etc) if you save a contact sheet as an image or web page you will get the last size you chose for that as a default. Saves clicks. Changed to flat toolbars (toolbar, utility bar, slide show controls) Silly, but that's the standard now... Changed "Launch Retriever with these files..." to notice changed associations If you install a new program that associates itself with image files this allows you to change that back to Retriever and *back again* to the new program. Previously it would fall back all the way to the program you had before you installed Retriever. Added 256 color icons Silly, but that's the standard now... if your Windows doesn't use 256 color icons you get the good old eye. Added command line options: /m launch maximized /f launch fullscreen /s launch slide show if given a contact sheet can be combined. You can use these eg. in a shortcut, or if you call Retriever from your own script or program. Eg. "retriever /m/f/s c:/images/mycontactsheet.ret will launch mycontactsheet.ret as a full screen slide show. Added ability to open folders, as contact sheet (command line and drag&drop) You can make Retriever open a folder on the command line (eg. "retriever c:/images") or you can drag a folder from explorer to Retriever, and get the files in the folder as a contact sheet. You can even navigate using the contact sheet inside Retriever (because you get the folders, even the parent ".." folder, as thumbnails) To open folders without drag&drop you can put a link to Retriever into the "Send to" folder in your Windows directory. That way you can "send" a folder to Retriever using right mouse click. New contact sheets are no longer marked as dirty It will no longer ask you to save a contact sheet if you never rearranged the thumbnails. Retriever is sized to fit if an image is opened while a maximized image is present (behave like SDI) That means if you use Retriever by doubleclicking image files it will always size to fit the image, like a viewer that can only have one image at a time may. Previous images stay open, though. Added "Background" (minimize) and "Cancel" buttons to progress dialog Whenever you see the blue progress bar that indicates a lengthy operation you can minimize Retriever by clicking the [Background] button. It will pop up again once it's done. There is also a [Cancel] button now but you could always cancel with the [ESC] key. Changed Progress dialog to not make retriever active Once Retriever is done with its lengthy operation it will pop up again, ok, but it will not come to the top, it will stay in the background until you want it. Made File open dialogs remember the last chosen file extension They will know if you wanted to see "all files" (*.*) or "only image files" or whatever last time. Made Contact Sheet File Save dialog remember the last chosen extension If you saved a contact sheet as a web page or whatever last time instead of a .ret it will remember that - so you just need click OK to make another web page. Added missing image filetypes for contact sheet Save As There were options like tif or wmf missing there Made BACKSPACE the hotkey for Delete in contact sheets You can now press BACKSPACE [ <- ] to Delete an image from your disk in one click, DEL is still for "Remove" only - for security reasons... Added more distinctive error texts if a file could not be opened (ie. Windows error message) If Retriever can't read an image it will say so. If Windows can't read the file too, you will get the explanation directly from Windows. Added feature to drop files on database items (may slow it down, check) You can now associate other files with your images, eg. a descriptive text file. Just drop the file on an item in the database pane. It will only be shown for that one image, as opposed to the "normal" attributes. You can even drop an executable file - if you doubleclick that it will open the image, if it knows how to do that... If you drop a file on the database with no image open, it will be visible for *all* images - you can effectively add a collection of editors/viewers to Retriever. This makes the database very powerful... I urgently need to make some kind of tutorial ;) Remember that you can use it with any kind of file, as long as you open it in a contact sheet... Added TWAIN support You can now call your scanner, digital camera or other device that supports TWAIN dircetly from Retriever, and scan the image directly into Retriever. TWAIN is the standard interface that any scanner-like device for Windows will support. tweaked contact sheet popup previews - "growing" slightly slower to match current hardware fixed slide show random order Now shows a different sequence each time it runs. fixed WMF 8.3 bug Would exit with an error if you tried to save as a .wmf with a long file name. Fixed. ***RELEASED silently on ftp server as 2.3 (3.0 Preview) 01/17/2000
